AP,
Just wanted to ask you how close you were to Boston. I'm currently interviewing for a job with a company who's home office is in Cambridge. If I land the job I'll probably be spending 1 week or so there for training. Thought maybe we could get together and have lunch if you are in that area.

I live in Fields Corner, Dorchester and if you "live" in Boston like I do you are close to everything.
That sounds good, let me know

Well I've been interviewing for days for this job. So far I've interviewed with 9 people (1 of them 3x) for a total of 12 interviews. I've never had this many interviews for a job in my life.
I was supposed to have my last interview by phone today at 3, but something came up and they had to postpone it till Friday at 11. I'm guessing that will be my last interview because the only person above this guy are the CFO of the company.
From what I can tell there are only 2 of us in the running for the position and I'd bet I have an edge on the other candidate do to my "odd" skillset. It's a job with a bio-tech firm and they wanted someone that had a BS in Chem or Bio and also had a good deal of experience with computer programming. Not many people out there that could fit that bill as well as I can with my Nursing degree and 15 years of programming experience.
God willing I'll hear something next week about whether I get the position so wish me luck.

Hmm you wouldn't happen to be interviewing for Bio-Key would you? Probably not, just the bio tech programming stuff reminded me of what brother does

Well AP looks like I'll be flying up to Cambridge for an interview on Friday. Not sure of the details yet, but are you available to meet if time allows?

I should be able to, just depends on how my son is doing. He's been having a really hard time. I would love to meet up though.

Okay, got my travel docs and I arrive in Boston at 11:00am and I'm scheduled to fly back out at 5:00pm. Not sure what they have planned for me during that time yet.
They haven't been real clear about whether they will have someone pick me up and take me back or if I'm cabbing it.
I'm hoping to hear something tomorrow (Thursday) about how many people I'll be meeting with and how long the process will take.
I sure hope there is time in there to meet up with you and that your son is feeling well enough to allow it.
Send me a mail here with a phone number where I can call you when I get to Bean Town.

Well I got to Boston but the plane was running just a hair over 2 hours late. By the time the limo picked me up and dropped me off for my interview I only had 3 hours to get back in the limo and head to the airport to catch my flight home.
I interviewed with 5 people at the corporate office and had a bite of lunch, then it was back in the limo to head to the airport. There was a 6th person that I was to interview with but she had to go to the KY office for the day which meant I was supposed to talk to her via phone, but due to the lateness of my plane flight we weren't able to talk on Friday so they are arranging a phone interview with her on Monday, after which they will be making a determination on the job within 24hrs. Which means if my plane had been on time I'd probably be gainfully employed as we speak.
Bottom line though is that I didn't get to see AP while I was there, but I DID get to talk to her for a very short time on my cell phone. I'm confident at this point that I'll be up there in the next month for an extended time doing training at the corporate office though so eventually we'll get to meet. Also, the job will take me there once or twice a quarter too, so hooking up on one or more trips won't be a problem.

Just got the call and my offer letter will be in my email box this afternoon. It's tentatively 5k more than my previous job (no not unemployment my last REAL job), and I get stock options too. Not to mention a company laptop.
Hope to see you REAL soon AP.

Congratulations, both to you and your new employers. They got themselves a true gem, in a Tiffany setting.
