OK, Here is a guild enhancement idea. I figure I will post it here and let you all poke holes in it first before I post it on the WoW boards.
Problem – Guilds are always looking for a way to attract and keep people as well as a way to enhance individuals game play. Generosity and altruism in a game were greed seems to be an overall dominant motivation would be a refreshing change.
Solution - Guild NPC Store / Vendor (this would be the visiting center vendor)
The idea is the this vendor would accept any item that fall under the following criteria for resale to another person of the same guild.
Must be a Dropped item
Can not be a quest driven item.
Must be a Bind on Pickup or a Bind on Equip item
The item must be able to be worn
Any guild member that has an item that he or she no longer needs can donate that item to this NPC. For their donation to the guild they receive ½ of the gold normally received from a standard NPC.
Any person of the same guild can now go to this vender and purchase any item at regular price that in not (RED) to them. (not RED indicates the person can use that item) On purchase the item is instantly equipped and “bound” to the new player.
I think this is a good way to gear people up with older items that older players no longer need. Many time a player may receive an item during a guild event that is an upgrade only to receive a new upgrade of the same type a few days later. Hence other members of a guild have missed out. The first item is usually disenchanted or sold to an NPC. This would at least give other guild members an opportunity to use a lesser item that may indeed be beneficial to them. The items are bound to the new player / owner so the item can not be sold at auction. The item is bought from the NPC at full price so it is a gold sink as well as a way to deter people from just taking everything a guild has to offer.
Maybe a timer is needed. Say a person can not purchase more than one item every 24 hours.
Maybe guild members need to have approval to use the vendor from the guild master as well. This would prevent guild hopping.
OK, that’s my idea. What do you all think. Anything wrong with the logic? I think WoW has code for just about all of the steps. Nothing strange is needed to implement this idea.
