The CoA had an officers meeting last night to discuss a number of issues. I was there to represent DoJ and in all it was a very productive meeting. Below is the agenda and what was decided for each item:
1. Welcome new guilds -- Three new guilds have joined the ranks of the Coalition. Those guilds are Fury of One, Primus and Blades of the High Borne. Their members now have full member status in the CoA and are welcome to join in any of the CoA events. One thing to note is that Primus will be running weekly Zul'Gurub runs which gives members even more events to participate in.
2. Loot: do we need any further adjustments to the current policy? -- The CoA loot policy restricts a character to one epic win per week. The question has been raised about people who win an epic with their main then come to other runs that week with their alts and rolling on another epic item. It was decided that this is not a real issue at this point because it happens so infrequently, but if it does become a problem that the raid leader should handle it at the time.
There was also a new loot rule suggested and adopted about people who only need one item to complete their Tier 1 set. Anyone who has spent enough time on CoA runs to get 7 or the 8 pieces will now be given their 8th piece if and when it drops and they are present without the need to roll. If more than one character of that class is present that only needs 1 piece they will roll off to see who gets the item.
Last but not least, we discussed how to handle the two epic quest drops that come from Major Domo's chest. The chest either drops a leaf (for the hunters) or an eye (for the priests) but not both, and whichever item drops it is limited to a single item, not multiples of the item, so only one person can get the item. Both of these items are key to the Hunter and Priest epic quests and upon completion of the quest give the hunters a nice bow and the priests a nice staff. Both of these quests are difficult to complete even after getting the drop from Domo. It was decided that the drops will go ONLY to those of the class that will actually take the time and effort to complete the quest series. So priests that have taken the time to get the other item needed for their quest and are willing to take the quest to it's completion will be permitted to roll for the item. The same consideration will be given to hunters who plan to finish their quest series. One thing to note is that there are two drops in MC, a bow and a staff, that aren't as good as the items that are rewards from the epic quests. Prior to getting the item needed for the epic quests hunters and priests are permitted to roll on those drops, but once a hunter or priest wins the item needed for their epic quest they are NO LONGER permitted to roll on the bow and staff drops.
3. Raid requirements: Do we have mandatory equip requirements for fights such as Rag, and into ZG? **If so, how do we implement? -- While the CoA has never implemented a minimum equipment requirement for the MC runs it was suggested on the forums that an equipment requirement be implemented for the CoA Zul'Gurub runs. Rykar, who will be leading those runs agreed to try a few without the requirement and after the success of the initial run he agreed that an equipment requirement would not be a condition of future runs.
4. Signups: Do we need to tweak or change anything? -- While we still seem to be filling up the runs posted on the PhP site the raid leaders are still finding themselves having to resort to inviting people from the queue for some reason. It was suggested that those that are having a hard time getting signed up for the runs make sure that they sign up in the queue and be available at raid time because there is a strong chance that the leader will be pulling people from the queue each run. Also if there are enough people available a second trash run could be formed from those left in the queue.
There may be some tweaks made to the signups in the near future once we start doing BWL runs. Those tweaks are still in the discussion phase though so nothing has been written in stone yet.
5. Running MC raids: who wants to run and setup transition to some new folks. -- With the popularity of our MC runs increasing we need more qualified people to lead the runs in hopes that we can someday to multiple runs the same week. A few people have expressed interest in leading and a progression has been established to transition those folks into their new role.
To lead a run a person must first spend a few runs as class leader. Once they have had some experience as a class leader they will then be allowed to lead a raid on the first run of the week under the watchful eye of one of the current raid leaders. After a few times leading the first run of the week they will be then be asked to lead the trash mobs of the second night of the week and also the first couple of bosses of that run, adding more bosses as their ability to lead allows. Of particular importance here is that an experienced leader will always be there to guide the new leader using /tells rather than doing so in open TS. It was felt that doing so in /tells would be much better than the new leader trying to sort through all the comments being made in TS.
If anyone of you would like to take a shot at leading (Glifnich comes to mind here) please contact Keelmann about it and he'll do his best to get you in to lead a run.
Also a new forum has been put in place on the CoA site. The new forum will be a place for raid leaders to discuss upcoming raids and leadership issues.
6. Using GEM for COA events. Let's discuss how we can get equipment runs and more happening for the entire COA. -- GEM (Guild Event Manager) is an add-on that guilds can use to set up guild events. I'm not familiar enough with it to say a lot about it, but I think it uses a channel in WoW to show what events are planned, and facilitates filling the runs with the classes needed for the run. The CoA will be establishing a new channel, either COAGEM or GEMCOA, to be used for GEM scheduling. GEM will not be replacing the current PhP site for high level runs, but instead will be used for scheduling smaller runs to places like Strat, Scholo, UBRS, LBRS and the like.
7. Get to know your COA friends. I would like an event such as this, maybe another PVP event or something. -- A number of events were discussed. CoA will be planning more speed runs, PvP nights and the like so CoA members can just get out and have fun and get to know each other.
Last but not least, the future of CoA runs was discussed. It looks like in the near future we'll be starting to do some BWL runs. This doesn't mean that the MC runs will be stopping though. The weekly MC runs will continue as they are now in order to allow the CoA members to acquire pieces of their tier 1 sets to make them more viable in BWL. That's why it's important for new raid leaders to step up to the plate, so we can have experienced leaders for both the MC and BWL runs.
So there you have it in a nutshell. If you have any questions or comments about any of these items, please feel free to contact me here on the forums or in game.
