need a good, simple, non hog av, firewall. been checking out pcmag.com for good ones. still undecided. i am behind a wifi router, i hear those can be better than software, just hard to configure, which would be beyond me.
thanks for any info guys.

ok been runnin these since. security center rating, been running malwarebytes for a while, im aware of its abilities. opening ports for windows firewall, not for the avg user but doable alerts for opening control panel security area? adding apps to approve list easy enough alerts for false alerts not many many more were correct than not, all done with normal surfing, game installs and updating and voip set ups. normal = normal for me overall, light fast accurate. at first it felt like what i had heard about vista, but not having a prob since install malware is caught quickly and easy to deal with and seems like is actually gone the first time overall thanks man! great free apps never thought microsoft would have something so good. they must have purchased it from another company like the windows defender app.

They got tired of Windows not having good anti-virus protection freely available. Tired of the Mac ads.
They tried selling this Anti-Virus, in the form of Microsoft OneCare. But it still was not reaching enough people, costing $50/year. They decided to drop the paid program.
This is their free solution, and very robust.

ahh ok. i remember seeing that and figured im not gonna do that. its really not bad. AV software is way overpriced out of reach of the people who really need it, the n00bs. good thing windows has a built in firewall, although i dont know how robust it is, really.
again thanks darkk. gonna come alpha test the emu sometime?

Nope. In my spare time, i'm a staff Lead beta tester for Earth and Beyond EMU. Not much room for anything else atm. www.enb-emulator.com
