Got an invite to the closed beta for Warhammer Online yesterday. The download is 9.3 GB and is a bit torrent. Main was that painful to download. I haven't gotten into the game yet because there's an issue on the patch login that I need to resolve. I'll give an update once I get into the game.

Ok, I got in. I'm playing a High Elf/Shadow Warrior. Graphics are fairly decent. I'm in a starter area for now with a lot of solo quests. One RvR quest popped up and it's up to you whether to join or not. So far so good. There are places where they could improve the HUD, but otherwise a standard layout.

Bah, humbug! I preordered and so am in the open beta, but no invite yet. And the open beta is like AoC, you can only play up to lvl 20 in a character.Still interested in taking a look though.

No luck yet, at least my info is still in their system apparently. I still don't like that they got rid of half the cities and races.

I'm starting to like WAR. You can level up without ever stepping into RvR. It's actually a pretty descent game. They just had a preview weekend (and are going back to closed beta now).

Open Beta is scheduled for 9/7 and they're going live on 9/18. If you pre-order you get into the Open Beta.

Love the public quests, they're the bomb. They're so much fun, like the big battles you'd see at the bases in Tabula Rosa. Am currently playing on Skavenblight ( rp ) meself, as a greenskin Black Orc. I can see myself jumping from AoC to this once my AoC sub runs out at the end of the month. If you enjoyed RvR in DAoC, you'll love it in this. You can take part right away. The PvE is pretty good too.

Is there enough pve in the game to keep someone entertained or is really just RVR?

Don't listen to Terina. It's got PvP, RvR, PvE and so much, much more. Actually, you can play without ever going into RvR. Might be a little tougher to advance, but it's more than possible. They have the basic PvE quests where you go around and kill then of these, four of those, etc. and then turn in the quest.
They have "Public Quests" where it cycles through three parts of killing which everyone in the location, at that time, contributes to effort. The more you contribute to the killing at each of the three parts, the better the roll bonus the system gives you when you kill the boss at the third part. When the boss is dead, the system rolls for everyone who contributed, applies your bonus for contributing, and the top five or so rolls pull sacks out of a chest and pick a prize from their sack. Each Public Quest takes about 15 minutes to complete then recycles back to the first of the three parts. The thing that's good about it is you could hack down almost every opponent and still get beat out on the loot roll. Good you say? Yep, that way people can't just mine the PQ. Everyone has a chance at winning something.
RvR is what you'd expect it to be like. Take and hold keeps, etc. It's fun to go and hack someone else up once and a while. I won't say anymore on that.
I'm playing a level 12 Elf Sword Master on Azazel right now. I'm more than happy to start another character on another server if we want to setup a guild.

Heya Carbs,
I'll be on in a couple minutes and look ya up.
I'm really liking this game, so far i'm finding it to be very well done from both the PVE and RVR perspective. For me at least it is basically what i like in both aspects, just waitng to find the stuff i dont really like.

Sounds like it is good so far from your posts. I may purchase this game over the weekend when I gat back from CA. Sounds like DAoC redone the right way. Hope they learned the right way to do this.

If you all are playing, I'd love to roll up an order character on Bretton as well and play with you.Only takes 6 people to make a guild.
What are you all, elves?

Got a couple slots left, likely will finish those off with the other classes too.

hello, well some know me from the Bretonnia Server im Malgar.
A lvl 14 Warrior Priest.
I got my own Guild: The Order of Sigmar. Im trying to turn it into an RPing guild to fuse more together with the game.
I think that DoJ and TOoS should form an alliance after lvl 6 lol xD
