Apparently the decision was partially made due to mounting criticism of Age of Conan.

I jinxed this game when I posted awhile back how much I liked it.This is just like Tabula Rasa. Game is pretty fun in spite of some bugs and lack of content. Game goes live and instead of trying to tweak the stuff that needs fixing, they tinker with totally different stuff and ignore ( seemingly) the bad stuff..And break the stuf that was fun.
The game is less fun than it was in beta for cryin out loud.I read somewhere they sold like 800,000 boxes but only have around half that many subscribers.
On the upside, in spite of missing some stuff ( No city fer de Ork Boyz!Waaagh!) WAR has turned out to be pretty good ( so far).

We are finding out that it is not easy to make a fun MMO these days. The market is hurting and other markets "consol gamming" is on the rise. Investment vs. reward.
I have my fingers and toes crossed for a few titles. Time will tell.
