Just wondered how everyone is liking/not liking the game so far.
Right now after playing for about a month ( open beta + Early access + launch ) I'm loving the game more and more.
The early game is tons of fun, I really like the Tortage introductory"Destiny Quests ", and how the quests are different for each type of class group (i.e, Soldier, rogue, mage and priests).
I do hope that in the future they let players who have high level characters skip Tortage and begin at lvl 20.At some point playing through that is going to get old.
What keeps the game fun and exciting for me is definitely the combat, wether it's fighting mobs or other pcs, combat in this game is the best I've seen. Love the combos, trying to manage things like stamina/mana and pull off fatalities .
Unfortunately where the game seems to lack right now is after the mid game. Quests post lvl 40 start to get kind of thin, and there seem to be a lot of bugged/broken higher level quests. I dunno if it's because Funcom didn't figure on people levelling so fast ( after being out a week, there are already people lvl 80.That's just insane) or what.
Not a huge issue for me, as I'm not a very fast leveller. I like to explore and look at things.
But based on the quality of the game leading up to that, I'm willing to give Funcom the benefit of the doubt. Seriously the early quests are done very well.
What I'm doing right now is basicsally playing different characters up to lvl 30. Still not sure what I want to go into the end game content with, though right now my favorite charcter is ( big surprise)
rangers.Though everyone is whining ( like they always do, they did it in AC and DAoC) that rangers are overpowered, which means we'll get hit with the nerf bat pretty soon, it's still looking like a fun, versatile class to play.
Besides the ranger I have a (Stygian) Tempest of Set and an (Aquilonian) Dark Templar. The DT seems pretty weak in PvP but I like the concept and if built right ( so I've read), they might make the best tanks and be terrific in groups. they are also really strong in PvE because they're so hard to kill what with their life taps and all.
This is the first MMO I've tried in, geez, years that has kept me excited about playing for more than a week or two.
And it has to be said. Best looking MMO, ever.I could never play WoW again after this.I really need to start taking screenies.
Oh, and what has always frustrated me about other class based games like WoW was the fact that if you didn't play as much as your friends and they outlevelled you, you couldn't group any more. Not here. In AoC, there's an "apprentice" mode that lets high/low levels group with friends. It basically works like "sidekick" did in CoH.
Unfortunately you have to re apprentice your mate when you enter a new instance or zone ( yeah it's bugged right now like that, but still ).
