Greetings DoJ,
I have a question forged in the burning volcanic cauldrons of Morodor, is this a true representation of Lotr or is it wow/doac/EO in Tolkien pajamas? The things I am reading tend to support the later IMHO but I know you all as friends and want your input before casting the the "Ring" into the lava.

You are traveling and wandering in the lotro world. Turbine really trying to stick to the lore but have a lot of freedom in making things up with certain areas that are 'grey' so to speak. I think you'd love seeing all the areas from the books and how they made them come to life. There's raiding but no where near on par of WoW or anywhere near required and crafting gear is literally better and easier to get then what one can get from raiding. So it isn't overpowered. WoW has quests, LOTRO has MORE quests . There's lots to do but does get rough. You can be solo a lot or choose to group as later 40+ stuff is harder. The book quests are the real meaty stuff and require groups to complete and really do tell a good story if one pays attention to it. PvP or PvM is a battleground. You can go in as a 'monster' character' starting at level 10 in which you are then able to make a L50 monster. Or you can join the free people's side when your regular character is level 40 but really not much you can do until 45+. There's no silly Queue's like wow had or limits on how many can be in the battle area. The battleground and switching of keeps is very daoc but there's really no point to the fighting. It is daoc light heh. There are quests and goals to achieve in pvm but really kinda secondary to all out killing those vile wargs . Housing, my god it is almost a near clone so far of daoc lol. It is looking like it is going to be more of a pain in the butt though. At the start there was very little grinding in the game and almost strictly quest based leveling but types of grinding seem to be increasing a lot over the last couple big patches though. The world is only Eriador now but Turbine seems to be the king in adding content. In time this world is going to be huge.

Excellent overview Ter thanks much. Perhaps in the near future you may spy a strange creature lurking in the woods.....

Well if you ever do just post your character name here. There's some trial acct restrictions with sending tells and maybe mail that you have to be on our friends list for us to receive them.

Are you guys on a particular server? I downloaded the 7 day free trial and was toying around with the idea of giving LOTR a try. If I decided to give this a whirl, where would I find DoJ and what is the best way to make contact once I'm in?

We are on the "silverlode" server. Best way is to let us know your character name here so we can add you to our friends list and then you'll be able to send us a tell when you are on. Part of Turbine's fight against the evil gold seller . You might also be able to just send mail to us with the trial acct if you find a mail box, not sure though. *edit* BTW both your names are available and waiting for you lol
