Ok I installed all the OS updates, driver updates, etc.
Now when I installed Norton it started shutting off and restarting again! Anyone have any idea why it is doing this? I did a scan at McAfee and Trend Micro, both say the pc is virus free.
I really don't want to do anything else til we can figure this out. Running my pc without virus software is scary.
Oh and Ras did you get that "ghost" set up yet?

thats strange. seems like there is an error in your windows... did you overrit windows.. or did you reformat after the first one died out? if you overwrite, you have the chance of it just copying good info over bad info, and makin a bigger mess....

the only other thing i can think of.. is a problem on the motherboard itself... i got a bad board from Newegg one time, and it did exactly that. only way to find out is to bring it in to a shoppe so they can test it.

when my puter kept shutting down seemingly random on me i took off the side, and pumped more air into it. im only running a 200w ps atm, cuz my 400w blew. that solved my prob, who knows, what could it hurt, right?

Well the thing is it runs fine as long as I don't install norton on it.
I have the case opened up now too.

I've pretty much stopped buying hardware from Newegg. Zipzoomfly and a host of others seem to offer more reliable hardware at a still reasonable price.

I have this PC that will absolutely not run Norton Anti-Virus. Everytime I install it, it no longer boots up or keeps rebooting. I think its a Hardware conflict.
If this happens to anyone in the future, Norton has some bootable floppy images on their site and they can be used to completely remove Norton Antivirus.
