It's beyond my current system capabilities but yes looks awesome.
At a starting price of $54+ it is just a tad to much for a video game (IMO).

Here are the requirements. Oddly, I couldn't find it anywhere on id's site or on the www.doom3.com site. www.planetdoom.com/doom3/requirements/Pretty high for the "Worry free" recommendations. Even the system I just built in December January doesn't quite meet it. I don't have a nVidia 6800 or an X800xt video card. I can get them for about $300-$500 each. Depends on the the amount of onboard RAM it has. I think my Radeon 9800 Pro 128 will probably be ok. If you turn the resolution and detail way down, most systems that are less than 2 years old(with a good video card) could probably handle it. Give DOOM 3 about six months, it will become old and the price will drop by $10-20 or more.

I'm currently playing it and it runs pretty good on my computer.I was surprised. I've got: Athlon xp 1800 ( 1.5 ghz) 640 megs of ram Game Theatre xp 7.1 GeoForceFX 5700 Ultra I let the game auto configure my settings.it's running on medium quality video mode at 640 x 800 resolution. At this setting everything appears to run very fast and clean, and even at the lower resolution it looks great.I have played around with higher resolutions, and it does look a little nicer, but at the sacrifice of some frame rate. In order to get the most out of the sound you need a 5.1 speaker setup ( 5 speakers). If you don't have that, the next best is to just use some good headphones. As great as the graphics are( those lighting effects are killer),the sound effects are what really can get to ya. I've been playing with all the lights off and the sound cranked, and man there have been several times when i have almost jumped outta my chair. The sounds are really well done. As with all ID products, the technical parts of the game are more impressive than the actual game. The game itself is pretty damn cool, don't get me wrong, but after playing it for several hours, the basic gameplay is hunting for keys to be able to move on,and basically killing everything that moves. One other thing is,it's not as fast paced as original Doom was. There are no hordes of monsters coming after you all at once, the most I've seen on screen is three. However i'm not knocking the game at all,but it's a different experience than the original Doom. I highly recomend it.
