I have so many fond memories of Edinburgh. I miss the roleplay of UO.

A lot of the rp groups/organizations are dying off and shutting down. Just the other day, they had an announcement that a player run town called wintermoor on Atlantic was finally shutting down,as the one guy left just couldn't hold on to 17 (!) accounts of former players any more. I read that Shadowclan on Cats has dwindled down to almost nothing.A recent trip the the old UBB boards has a post from Theros Ironfeld saying he was the only one left on the guildstone. A lot of old disgruntled players seem to be happy about this turn of events, and that UO is in the twilight of it's existence. I'm not one of them. From time to time I've considered logging in one more time just for old time's sake. But what stops me is the fact that I deleted the original Marc Trueshaft ( Damn what a silly name) a couple years back, and also I barely recognise the game that calls itself UO any more. But I still have my memories of grand, fun times. I still remember the first DOJ member I met was ol' Shea.We talked for quite awhile about DOJ and the game, and of course he couldn't resist telling me how he used to be a DM,and how he had DM friends, and how he suggested the whole " maker's mark"( a regular Al Gore of Uo,eh?) on crafted items,etc.. hehe That guy never changed. I remember meeting so many cool people ( and notorious pks!).Still remember good ole' Craftsman and how he always seemed to be around to do armor repairs or sell weapons and things. And I remember my old buddy Zorr,I think of all the people i miss most from those days,it'd be him.We played together on several games after that, but eventually finally lost touch.Last i heard he'd stopped playing online games and was teaching school in New York and was engaged! Ok,I'm gonna stop now, this is getting kind of depressing. I will say this.. Ya know, role playing online is NOT dead.I'm not gonna start harping on NWN again, since I know most of you aren't into it.I'll just leave it at that. Perhaps some day, someone will make another game like UO,a game that embraces different play styles, whether you're a PvM'er,powergamer,rp'er,or even *gasp* pk'er or Pvp'er. I actually kind of doubt it,but we can always dream.

There are a lot of good memories from way back about UO. The game and it's player base has changed so much that is barely recognizable aside from the name.
