I saw this posted on one of my Doac websites I assume this was copied from the HERALD.
Because consignment merchants can be stocked with enough money to pay the weekly housing charges indefinitely, a large number of housing lots on the live servers are occupied by accounts which are closed, thus preventing current subscribers from buying lots on some servers due to all housing zones reaching maximum lot capacity. To address this issue, we have changed our housing system in the following ways:
- Houses which are owned by closed accounts will be condemned and removed from their lots after a reasonable period of time has lapsed and the account has not been re-opened. The house (in the form of a deed), all in-game money stored on the consignment merchant, all trophies, vaults, the consignment merchant, and items contained within the vaults and consignment merchant, will be placed on the repossession NPCs located in the Market areas of the housing zones.
- To roll this change out, the initial condemned countdown period will be 120 days. This means as of today, any closed account which owns a house has been provided a 120 day grace period in which the user must re-open the account in order to retain the house on its current lot. If 120 days pass, and the account remains closed, the house and all relevant household belongings, as stated above, will be removed from the lot and placed onto a repossession NPC if or until the user returns. For this initial roll out, when a house enters the condemned countdown period, emails will be sent to the email address on file for the account at three different times – 120 days, 45 days and 3 days from the date of the actual condemnation of the house.
- After this initial rollout, and 120 days has elapsed, the standard period of time at which a house will be condemned will be reduced to 60 days. We believe this to be an adequate period of time in which the user can respond to the housing system emails and re-open the account. When a house enters the condemned period, emails will be sent to the email address on file for the account at three different times – 60 days, 45 days and 3 days from the date of the actual condemnation of the house.
- When a house enters the condemned countdown period, a ‘condemned’ door will replace the existing door on the house, and all players who click on a wall of the house will see a message in the chat window indicating that the house is going to be condemned; and the message will also specify how long before the condemnation will occur. Players who enter and exit the house will see an additional warning message, in a different color, in the chat window. These messages will be displayed in the ‘Important Message’ channel in the chat window.
- When a house is within 30 days of being condemned, players who enter and exit the house will receive a pop-up message stating that the house will soon be condemned, advising that if they own any items in the house, players should remove them immediately or risk losing them.
- Any player who returns to the game after a house has been condemned will be able to retrieve all belongings specified above, but will need to find a new lot to purchase in order to rebuild the house.
- This change does not apply to guild houses.
