As the title says this really pushed my buttons, so part of this is a rant, but please read it anyways.
Why do we want/need to do this? Is this a done deal, and we would have no vote in this alliance?
I really hope not.
This is the first time I have even heard about the Blades of Hibernia. I have read their charter and I would assume as a member of their alliance we would be expected, to a certain extent, to follow it.
I do not want to be a part of any guild/alliance that states:
"DAoC is divided into three realms with an RvR component. As such, when a call comes through the guild or the alliance, members of BoH are expected to respond if at all possible. Bring the character most likely to assist with the problem (generally those level 45+). If you are unable to answer a Call to Arms, please respond in /gu.
When answering a Call to Arms, you should take the most expedient route to reach the group, which may include suiciding out of a dungeon or a raid; should such a situation occur, please make sure to explain to the group why you are leaving and be sure to disband from the group before suiciding. Once others hear why you are leaving, they may wish to join in the Call."
This is my game, I pay for it, these are my toons and I feel it is my right to play my toons when and where
I feel I want too!Now what I'm about to say will probably tick some people off but I want you to know how I feel.
DoJ as a guild for the most part now plays exclusively on Palomides. However I do still craft on Bedevere occasionally. It was voted on and it's done.
Now I may be wrong but my understanding for the move was that we did it because Spirit Octavius moved there, and RvR on Bedevere was basically dead in the water. If I'm wrong about this please let me know. I know that Cimba and Earl where also playing on Palo and really enjoyed it, and yes it is easier to level here.
So now we are or have already joined the Blades of Hibernia because Spiritus Octavius did? Excuse me but what are we Spiritus Octavius lapdogs? Or are we simply playing a game of "follow the leader?" Are we DoJ or are we SO-DoJ?
Don't get me wrong I have played with members of SO and with Proc as well. I think that they are a great group of people and seem a nice fit to DoJ and what we stand for. More importantly DoJ as a guild has remained autonomous.
Anyways SO has joined Blades of Hibernia alliance. As we all know DoJ is a small guild and even if we can vote in this new alliance let's face it, we would be a small voice in the crowd. As such I really believe we would lose our ability to remain autonomous.
Are we/did we join Blades so that there would be more opportunity for RvR? Yes we are small but we are DoJ, and I understand that we miss alot of opportunities because we are such a small guild. Reading the charter of Blades of Hibernia, I feel that they do share alot of DoJ values.
However if we have to/or feel we need to join an alliance that seems pretty rigid and inclusive then I'd really like to understand why.
I am proud to be a member of the Defenders of Justice and the values it stands for. Can we still uphold the values and standards of DoJ if we are members of an alliance that tells us what we are expected to do,and how we are expected to do that?
