The finest steeds in the land have been culled and brought into the King's stables. These thoroughbred mounts are hand selected as a reward to those who obtain the ranks of Champion within the King's military. The royal stable masters also provide a wide array of services for your horse such as training, barding and other accessories. More exotic steeds are rumored to be held within the King's service though those who seek such unusual beasts may find themselves traveling to equally unusual places to obtain them.
Among all of the rewards offered by the king for obtaining champion status, personal advanced mounts may be the most sought-after by those loyal to the realm.
Two types of mounts will be offered: Standard and Advanced.
Standard Mount Highlights:
- Will not require purchase of Darkness Rising expansion pack
- Obtained at level 35
- Solo quest must be completed to obtain access to NPC who sells a standard mount.
- Faster than running but slower than Advanced Mounts
- Used in PvE-only zones.
- Not customizable.
Advanced Mount Highlights:
- Will require purchase of Darkness Rising Expansion Pack
- Ability to purchase granted at level 45
- 5 types of mounts will be available including Nightmare, Unicorn, Warhorse, Undead/Phantom, and Standard Horse.
- Faster than Standard mounts
- Can be used in PvE and in RvR
- Advanced mounts are customizable - adding saddlebags, armor, barding and the ability to name your mount are all advantages to having an advanced mount over a standard one
Standard Player Mount Details
Standard player mounts are mounts that are available for all players regardless of their activated expansions.
How and When a Standard Mount is Obtained
Players become eligible for standard mounts at level 35. Once obtaining level 35 your trainer will offer up a solo-able quest that ultimately rewards your work with access to a standard mount. This quest will not be combat-oriented, but instead be geared around explaining standard mounts usage and limitations.
Standard Mount Speed
Standard mounts travel at a 35% increase over standard run speed. Grouping with a class that offers a speed enhancement greater than this will increase your speed to match that of the new buff.
Standard Mount Features
Increased speed in PvE zones. These mounts also serve as a status symbol, showing your achievement of at least level 35 and completion of the quest for your mount. Practically an extension of your character, standard mounts are fun to control and even offer new emotes for your character to enjoy.
Standard Mount Restrictions
Standard mounts cannot be summoned in RvR zones. No combat of any type can be performed while mounted. These mounts are not customizable.
Advanced Player Mount Details
Advanced player mounts are more elaborate, customizable and flashy when compared to standard mounts. Players must have the Darkness Rising expansion activated in order to have access to advanced player mounts.
How and When an Advanced Player Mount is Obtained
Once players have achieved level 45 they are eligible to purchase an advanced mount. More fantastical mounts such as the Nightmare or Undead Phantom horse require access to the King's Magery and certain Champion Levels must first be completed.
Advanced Mount Speed
Advanced mounts travel at a 50% increase over standard run speed. Grouping with a class that offers a speed enhancement greater than this will increase your speed to match that of the new buff.
NOTE: Being hit by a monster or another player in combat can causes you to be forcefully dismounted.
Advanced Mount Features
Advanced mounts offer several features over and above those of standard mounts:
Travel
Unlike standard mounts, advanced mounts can be summoned in the frontier zones. In order to summon your mount you must be outside of the named region for all keeps and towers.
Customization
Advanced mounts offer a certain degree of customization for their owners. Advanced mounts:
- Can be named by their owner
- Provide a horse tab in game similar to that of your character sheet.
- Can be equipped with barding. Unique designs are available and players can choose to have their guild emblem or realm emblem displayed here.
- Can be equipped with armor.
- Saddlebags can be equipped that offer additional character inventory slots.
Standard and Advanced Mount Shared Characteristics

Dungeons
Cities
Inside structures
Mounts and Water
Mounts can be ridden in deep water, however players cannot go below the surface while mounted.
