Legates & Guild Officers

I feel it is time we added some more Guild Officers/Legates to the ranks. Currently, If Cimba isnt on, Tysus is the only other. And vice versa. Sometimes, I never see either on.

As long as someone who is on regularly has the ability to use the Legate status for the guilds benefit, I dont care who gets it.

But again, I am rather insulted by the fact that I must meet "requirements" to have such label.

Only requirement is new legates have to be selected by the others. You're a long time member, respected, helpful, not whiny or cause any trouble. I doubt anyone has a problem with you being legate(except faulken, he's trouble ). So I say go for it, just don't paint the guildhouse bright green or something lol

Ok I wasnt going to say anything but want to put my 2 cents in (throws 2 pennies at the boards)...
This whole thing was started because of the alliance meeting on Sunday. It got us to realize that there are very few legates/officers in DAOC DoJ, so if the one or two active ones we have cant make it to such events there is no one else.
Thankfully Proc had no problem at all letting my non officer toon go. Ras Pm'd him first thing that morning about it explaining the situation...so I went with Neav and actually had a great time.
Ras nominated himself simply because he is a very active player and when not at work he is always on(trust me on that lol). Also he nominated himself because he has been in this guild in one game or another for so long now that he figured it wouldnt be a big deal.
I have read and understand the guild ranks and such and also agree they have to be in place however my personal belief is this...
There are a small handful of people that have been with this guild for so long. Since day one or so very close that no matter what game it is or how new that toon is, they will always be a toon of high rank in my eyes simply because of respect and because they have earned that status.
Now Ras is my RL husband we all know this and I want to clarify that I am NOT posting this because of that fact... I dont want people to assume the only reason im posting this is to come to his defense.
I just wanted to post my opinion and say that imo there is that small group of people that have already earned the trust and respect of the guild and shouldnt have to rework there way up the guild rank ladder everytime they switch to a different game. Yes i know we've all been playing DAOC for years and its not new...im just using it as an example to get my point across.
Anyhow thats all i have to say about it for the moment...

It was'nt the fact that I must meet said "guidelines" as much as it was
the fact that It was really even questioned as to If I did meet them.

Worse off still, to be questioned by an inactive member who is not affected
by this by any means , nor, are the aware of the day to day happenings in game.

Maybe I assumed too much thinking that It would have just been said and done
without question or having to meet "guidlines".

As long as someone votes on someone active to Legate status,It doesnt matter.

Again, to restate my reason of feeling insulted. The fact that my position or
status as a respectable, honorable, trustworthy (etc. etc.) member of DoJ
was questioned by "if you meet the guidelines" was just plain bogus.

Well let me start by first saying that I wasn't going to respond to this post, but now I've changed my mind.

When I first read this post it contained Ras and Arlo's response. I must say that I was insulted for Ras. Especially the "if you meet the guildlines". Then to go on to say that Terina meets thems. No offense to Terina but Ras has been playing DAoC a hell of a lot longer than him.

I have to say that I agree with Jayden's post about "climbing the guild ladder", and I have to ask "Why is this even happening?" Don't say or think it doesn't because it does.

Anyways I nominate Ras, Jayden, Faulken and Terina to legiate status. Or maybe I don't meet the requirements to do that?

Guild Titles are defined under Guild Ranks and Alliance Info Sticky above. It was no insult to Rasishi's trustworthiness or such - just if he had a level 50 eligible for the title. I know how long he has been in DoJ.

To Long, Didn't Read Summary: I think Arlo meant Ras should pick 1 level 50 character for rank 0. Also, Terina should be moved to rank 0 and should be punished (err nominated? hehe) for Alliance Liason.

Hehe Ras's comment about shooing away the WoW vibe cracked me up. Shouldn't be contentious to promote people up to Rank 0 as needed. Really it's an administrative position, not some sort of power position anyways. I think more than anything Arlo is trying to prevent a proliferation of characters at rank 0. During the rank renaming discussions we had one of the things noted was having a requirement of only 1 level 50 character per person up there.

I can vaguely understand his concern about Ras, and I'm sure it isn't a "Character (hahaha) judgment thing". More considering it from the point of view that it would be nice if a rank 0 character acting as alliance liason is a highly visible character so that the other alliance reps can connect a face to a name. Again no offence to Ras but WE barely can connect who is yours heh. Which likely led to the suggestion of Terina - who has been on a whack load of alliance led ML's so there's the built in visibility to other alliance guilds / alliance leaders.

That's more about the alliance liason stuff. Really if rank 0 is just needed for administrative stuff (ie guild dues / housing / permission settings / promotions) then anyone should be fine. I think Arlo was pointing out "the requirements" to indicate it should be a single character and level 50. I think a lot of that "requirement" stuff developed from a desire to have a "good showing" on the herald - guilds.camelotherald.com/guilds/guild.php?s=Bedevere&g=314, people spend a lot of time checking stuff out there (Well I did for evaluating other guilds for alliance membership and whatnot) and quite frankly it looks better to have a tight grouping of high level / recently played characters up at rank 0 instead of a million alts and black squares all over. Gives other people looking at the guild from outside a better feeling on activy as the rank 0 characters are displayed first in the listing by default. (Part of the reason I dropped Mack when I cancelled) Course I'm the guy who got in trouble for booting a bunch of Agrak's alts cause I wanted the guild page to look pretty.

Yah I'm just a tourist back for a summer fling so probaly shouldn't butt in too much hehe. Just hate to see ya'll squabbling like them WoW folk muhahahaha!

Prevent proliferation of 0's you say?? Look at the mess I made of Palo DoJ heh. I tried to correct it with alts. Just much easier to put 0 then play around with the non existent permissions interface.

As far as liason, Cimba and I have been doing that on the alliance boards. Coranis is recognized on the boards but probably not so much in game as he became farm bot. I try to give imput but really dont have much to say, cause like Mack I am Xenophobic lol.

The many alts is my playstyle. I am one of those lucky people that has ADHD, so I get bored sometimes, and I like to change playstyles, test different specs, and just overall, ENJOY the game for the game, and not the sake of playing to be uber,multi-platinum, arti loaded ML King, but rather pacify my brains need for new attention.

I am also a member of Spiritus Octavus. It was just last night I was in the BG's with 3 of the SO Guild leaders.
So, I would think that I might be possibly recognized by the alliance in some way.

This guild has gone through alot of changes through the years, but I cant say Ive seen any that have show that we've matured as a guild, or have taken steps to improve or change the guild for the better. And I am probably just to blame as anyone else I suppose. But when a small issue like this becomes what it has become, as trivial as it is, it only reinforces that train of thought. Maybe I just blew it out of proportion, but Im leaning towards no. Just reading the WoW boards was enough to keep me away from trying that out. Felt very similar in SWG as well, thats why I left so quickly. When I had to pay to join DoJ I had distaste in my mouth.

I'd just like to say that as i read this thread, two stick out as the issue. No Ter, not that Faulken is trouble, nor the dead sexy part (albiet funny). Just that as of the past few months, we have had little involvement with Alliance issues, and if one of the guild wants to represent that which we have created as a group of fun-loving good-natured folks (Furri too) , then why the heck not let said individual run with it. Earl says it best, FUN Fun FuN and Simple. We all have our goals, we all have our ways of entertaining ourselves...and I have a Beer ;D. Ok, enough late night rambling for me. Ermm....Ok, one more thing.. as i scrolled down reading the additions to this post after i left work, when i hit Mack's, first thing to come to mind was exactly what was posted next. Why is there a big deal? Hes eligible, has a char thats eligible, and is one of the ancient doj members from the dark ages(uo). Just ignore the fact that he has more toons than the rest of the server cluster put together He just has to choose one.

Actually only thing I want to look at is the merit point buff things. Wanna see what use it actually has. Maybe can fix the permission so it isnt just legate use.
