Well, I finally have my internet working at full speed, but now I've run into some other issues. After the technician left, leaving me with replaced cables and a new cable modem, I have found that I no longer have a static IP address. I'll have to call tech support and see what is up with it. Also, after all the hard work, I can no longer seem to connect to the Asgeroth II server. I can get in through a client running on the server box, but not from other machines on the LAN. I'll also try to get it working again ASAP. Thanks for your patience.

Just incase you missed some of the obvious (it always happens to me)
I've seen more then a few providers use a "static" ip address that actually changes / gets reassigned when you switch out hardware. However the new one won't change until you switch something again. How often does the IP address actually change?
Did you try connecting with an intranet IP .... usually it's 192.168.* but it's not limited 192. (just don't test it with 127.0.0.1)
DynaDns works but when ever your ip changes it's going to equal a disconnect.

I have already been assigned a number of different IP addresses with the new cable modem. My understanding is that my ISP is supposed to assign my IP address based on the MAC address that is sent. I can only suspect that the switch out of the cable modem has changed something in their address assignment process. I will be calling them tonight to try to resolve this issue. I may set up dyndns as a temporary solution if they can't get it fixed right away.
The connecting problem is rather odd, and I don't think it is related to the ISP issue. I can log in fine on a client that runs on the server, but my LAN client cannot successfully connect, but it can validate the user login. It gets to the point where you select your character, but then it puts up Connecting... and eventually times out. I restarted the shard and later rebooted the server, but still no luck. I'm not sure what is causing this problem and why it just started.

Editing the ServerList.cs File: Next you need to edit the ServerList.cs file on your server. If you have a Static IP, the change is easy and will only need to be done once. If your address is Dynamic you will need to update this file each time it changes unless you have chosen to use a DNS Name for your Server. Using Notepad (or your C# editor of choice) browse to your RunUO folder then to Scripts\Misc and open ServerList.cs. There are 2 lines like so? Code: public const string Address = null; public const string ServerName = "RunUO Test Center"; The lines you are looking for are just as listed. The ones which start with / or * are comments and will have no effect if they are changed. On the first of the two lines replace the null with your Public IP address or your DNS Name -- whichever you use be sure to enclose it in quotes and end it with a semicolon. Code: public const string Address = "206.206.206.206"; --or-- Code: public const string Address = "myOwnWorld.no-ip.com"; Where "myOwnWorld.no-ip.com" is the DNS Name you acquired, and/or "206.206.206.206" is the IP address of your router (public IP, not private.) The "RunUO Test Center" on the second of the two lines is the name of your shard which you can change to something a little more in tune with the shard you wish to run. www.runuo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1865

Any chance that you have a bad router?

Thanks for looking up the problem for me, Jim. Now I just have to get things worked out with my ISP. In any case I should be able to get the server back up soon.
It probably makes sense for me to get a DNS name through dyndns so that I don't have to hard-code the IP address into the shard script, even if I get the static address working again.

Okay! The server is back up and in operation for now using DynDNS. To connect to the shard, use the following DNS name: asgeroth2.dyndns.org From now on I will attempt to keep this name associated with the correct IP address, so even when I get the static IP address set up again you should still use this DNS name. The shard scripts also use this DNS name now, and I have updated the sticky note for connecting to the server to reflect these changes. Thanks for the help, Jim!

Okay, called up my ISP and because of the new cable modem they had to reset my static IP address. It is now back to the old one that we have been using. I would still recommend using the dynamic DNS name of asgeroth2.dyndns.org so that if I ever have to change the IP address in the future it will still work. And best of all, my connection is now 6Mb down and 1Mb up!
