Well I have not played much recently. It runs in waves as sometimes I have played a lot durring a month then nothing. When AOS came out I played a lot. There are many issues regarding me leaving UO so at this time I will be just packing my bags and moving stuff to my banks. Currently I have two building that I am paying for, the castle and the telescope house. I took over paying for the castle a while back. Myo my old buddy has been playing DAoC since it came out and has not played any UO to speak of since then. I may not be canceling my account right away but I am not going to buy UO for 3 or 6 months in advance. He and I have been paying for this game for 5 years now so maybe its time.
I am sure this will cause a stir so pipe in you comments.

The price increase for UO might mean an increase in the number of DAoC players. If the prices are about the same, why would someone play something that is old and tired instead of something new?
DAoC has much of what many UO players find appealing; character development, crafting, PvP and the complementary monster bashing fun.
Can't say that I blame you for packing it in Jaxs.
Perhaps after I find a new job and can get Broadband again, I will switch to DAoC.

I too am having serious doubts about how much longer I will be in UO. I just don't like AoS and I don't like the way OSI treats its customers. I'll probably keep my main account for a few months longer to make sure this is REALLY what I want to do. What I am having trouble with is deciding where to go. I think I'll go wherever the bulk of my friends go. The leveling in DAoC is what has kept me away from really investing effort into that game. Maybe even NWN....hey the price is right.

There are a lot of games to choose from in the coming year. Star Wars will probably be my first choice. The game has been designed by the same person who designed UO and its not lvl based. You still have skill trees but since I really not one to try and race to the top it does not matter to me.
On my list are; SWG Horizons World of Warcraft Dragon Empire
all look to be quite good. We will have to see.
Its just a shame UO is not cutting it for me. $10 bucks a month is ok to waist as long as your not playing another game but if I am gona be serious about another MMORPG then I am not gona pay for something I don’t use. Just seems a waist. Very disappointing.

I too am leaving, the price increase was "the straw that broke the camels back" for me. If SWG gets somewhat stable ill be there, if not DAoC. I do need some advice, I have 2 accts, my wifes and mine, She has a 36 month acct, with 1 melee char, and mine with several chars including the super crafter mule on a 68 month acct. Im going to ebay the accst, im wondering if I should move all the gold and big ticket stuff to my acct and strip the other acct as the acct itself isnt worth much. any ideas?

The game is quite good but to be competitive and at least on par with everyone you have to be commited to put in lots of hours. The PvP stuff and city seige stuff is the fun stuff and that takes a massive commitment by yourself and others to make it work. I simply have other things in my life like family and work. I cant play a game like SB its to time intencive.
Thats my take on it anyway.

Yep that's what's kept me away from games like Shadowbane,DAoC..I don't play nearly enough to get anything out of them. Out of all those games I had the most fun with EQ,till I got to about lvl 11 or so.Then you not only were forced to group up,but the quests got a lot more complicated, requiring a lot of time(ie,camping) and the fun went away for me at that point. SWG,I have hopes( would say more but the nda won't let me).Once the tecnical things get smoothed some * crosses fingers*. Right now NWN is it for me.It's free and tons more fun than UO.The hard part is finding a good server and community you can call home.

I'm hanging in with UO for now, although I am reducing my number of accts. I will be discontinuing my 6-month old "MoonMirage" acct in lei of the older accts I purchased (may as well get the better vet gifts every year, heh). I'll be laying her to rest as soon as I figure out which acct gets her house and can move them there- probably the Donatien Sade/Leo Von Masoch group (my fav group) and both those chars are already on the doj stone. Luckily not all chars on the purchased accts are filled with finished chars, so I will remake MoonMirage and she can ride an ethy before her time, etc, heh. This way I can continue to appreciate how much work goes into raising a UO char. lol Kinda interested in NWN too.. hmm. Don't have that game yet tho. We'll see. MM

:PWell I gotta say I was really, really p'd' when I saw the price increase. I currently have 4 active accounts with uo. I will probably lose 2 of them. ???Today my son informed me that uo is just plain boring now and the lag drives him crazy. So maybe one account. :-[Then I hear "well Mom there are all sorts of new games coming out that I bet would be better that uo". Argghhh ;D I just dont know what to do. As uo was the first online game I have ever played I am not even familiar with any of the others. Any suggestions? I am so disappointed

I'm just not sure what I want to do right now anymore. The price increase is very dissapointing but well I've seen it in other games too.. I guess I was kidding myself when I thought UO wouldn't do that.. seems most of the popular mmorpg's are $13/ month and some will be more. But I'm just not sure.. I enjoy AoS quite a bit but not enough that I want to play it alone.. I'm gonna let my friends decide where we go.. but most of them seem intent on keeping UO accounts, infact some are thinking of going with the 6 month plan.. in any case, I'll wait and see what SWG does to us.. I'll keep my accounts till then, and then head to whereever we're gonna go. I don't know how this is gonna turn out but I just want to stay with friends. Hopefully that won't be too hard.

Recently I've been logging in around 5 times a month max...and that only to stop in and chat
Since the rest of you are mostly cancelling, and dont play much more anyways, I think I might as well go ahead and save myself some money
Playing Planetside right now, and Star Wars maybe, depending on how much they change it during beta(as it is, I can't find anything fun to do in the game)
I'll be hanging around the boards and seeing what you guys are playing

Hi guys.. my turn to put in my 2 cents. I havent been playing in a while, due to a few RL factors, and trying out Shadowbane for a 3 month period. I love DOJ and the people, but AoS and the mega changes, and the instability of OSI to figure out where they want the game to go is kinda making me shy away from keeping this accout active. I have another month left on this account paid, so ya might see me pop in from time to time, but i doubt that ill be back to stay.
BTW shadowbane is an ok game.. IF they fix all the problems. I am on the War server, and the guild that im in, Purity Council, is one of the mega guilds that has taken over the whole server. Now there is nothing to do..since WolfPack has not really done their homework, and our Server is now stagnated. Unfortunately, the cost/time involved in running and building a city is large, while the destruction takes mebbe 2 hours at best. This has caused lots of servers to play in a carebear way. Meaning, they PvP, but they dont play to kill cities. This makes the game just as boring as a stagnated server, since nothing changes.. you go out.. kill guild A, they come back you kill them again, etc etc etc aud nauseum.
There are still a lot of playability errors that WP and UbiSoft have not fixed yet, and their patching comes once a month, needed or not. The last patch fooked the game worse then it was to begin with. And, lets say this.. OSI's customer service? Its GREAT compared to WP/UbiSOft. My review - dont play Shadowbane, it aint worth it... yet. If they ever fix the lag/crashing/exploit errors, it will be a great break the mold game... otherwise its a laggy piece of crap that will bore you in 2 months. There is already talk of a Class action lawsuit, like the one that OSI lost, and im sure that case is a winner also... they have not provided a game that they advertised. I spent 3 days not even able to log in.. they cant keep their login servers from crashing 8/.. sad to see that 5 years after UO, they still have not made a game that works out of the box.
Jaxs - im sorry to see you go, but i dont blame you. Its not like it used to be.. where all of DoJ would be at the scope, training, playing and having fun as 1 group. We were a family, and to those that are new to DoJ.. it was the best of times. We lived in fear of being PK'd walking 3 steps out of Moonglow, but it was a fun fear. We always knew sosmeone was there ready to come and die trying to get us out of there, or retaliate postehaste. I miss those days. I miss going to the scope and seeing 20 DoJ all having fun together. I miss dungeon crawls with DoJ and DDJ there to protect us poor lil guys from Reds. I miss the early notoPK's and the fun we had killin the bastids off. I miss the honor which people played with-- Even the reds played with honor.. this is not the case anymore. I miss being honored by being accepted in DDJ, for it was a great honor. I miss recruiting for MDJ, and bringing in many good players that joined right up in line with our collective thinking. I miss when the game was for the betterment of the guild, and not for personal gain. Mostly I miss facetless UO and the struggle to survive on a daily basis being the most fun i had in a long time.
What i wont let myself miss, is the people i met in the 4 years i have been here <off and on>: Jim, Jaxs, Sir Lanka, Uli, Balg, Nivek, Dazzler, Zigg, ganesh, Archon, Floyd, Rasishi (heh been a while since i typed that name in), Jayden, that lil limey bastid, and a score of others... just because i didnt mention your name, doesnt mean i dont remember ya. Ill still be on the boards every now and then to see how DoJ is faring, cause ill ALWAYS consider myself part of DoJ.
for those of you that dont know my email addy is : phanatx@netscape.net, and my AIM is phanatx and ill always be there if ya need someone 8)
Take care all, and ill see you in game .. for a month or so...

Well said, that fully captures my feelings about DOJ. While I've had a great time getting to know the new members, I pine for the old days.... sparring at the scope, watching Archon kill Balg....again. Just being able to go someplace and knowing that you would see green names, that was comforting. I will miss this when we all move on.

Pretty amazing if you think about it. 5 years and then some we've spent together doing whatever it was we were doing. Made alot of friends and met alot of nice people...It is sad to see them go, but hopefully, we will all stick together through the message boards and share what we learn with each other. Who knows, maybe there will be a game to come out that will draw is all back together again and soak us for five+ years once again. ;D ILl be sticking it out to the end just to see how it all unwraps......Ill go down with the inevitable UO ship...Think it will be fun to watch...

The big thing that kept us all hanging out at the scope back then was being able to train almost anything there. When the put in the anti macroing code is when people gradually stopped hanging out there

I think what really started to kill UO for me was Trammel.Yeah it gave folks a choice, didn't have to deal with a$$holes and all that, but it also began the trend of players not having to rely on each other. That's why I initially joined DOJ.Going out adventuring alone was a risky proposition back then. That and the fact that we would give other members the shirts off our backs to help out.Everbody helped each other out because These were (and still are) some of the coolest people to play with, but also because you had to.You helped out your friends, and together stood up to your enemies. UO to me has devolved into a single player game you play online.Nobody really needs anybody else. Ah well, enough of that.Nothing is forever.I give the game another 3 or four years before it really starts to die out. It's still EA's only big time online money maker. I think about those great old days of logging in,going to the scope and seeing just about everybody. If they weren't there, they were in Shea's house( right next to the scope).*sigh* Good times indeed.UO is kind of like that first love,or that best friend from your youth, there will be other games, but they will somehow never measure up or seem as fun or cool as UO. I've hardly played the game at all in the last two years( I think this year I logged in maybe 5 times before I had to face facts and cancel once again) but I still feel attracted to the message boards.A lot of that has to do with the great memories of how awesome the game once was,and also because the folks in DOJ are the best group of people I ever played with.

He killed me more ZEUS(also Xedric) was Shorty's friend in DoJ, and there was another thief that always came with Shorty Remember when it was dangerous just to go collect hides or meat in Hind Valley? What was the one PKs name(started with an F) Or how about Lord Quinn, who plagued all of Shea's dungeon crawls

Bal that would be Fumanchu!! All the elder DoJ seemed to have stories about being pk'd by him. All I ever saw of him was him macroing counts in his house.

Also Bal he was called King Quinn(although he may have had another char named Lord).I remember that guy.He hung out in Shame a lot.Had quite the little posse that hung with him if I remember right. One of their favorite tricks was one of his cronies would run by yelling "red! Red!" he'd come out and pretend to be going after them. Then he'd turn on you and his little friend would start healing him( and/or block you in with their body and/or start stealing from you. I had a couple run ins with that character.I hated him at the time, but looking back,it did add a level of excitement to the game.
