Hmm...
EA has some nerve. They are charging the same price for their 6 year old game as all of the other much newer games which currently exist. I know they have made some updates recently, but if they think their game is the same calibar as SWG, Planetside, Everquest, or DAoC they are off their rocker.
Think about it, some great games like NWN, Battlefield 1942, Diablo, and Warcraft can all be played on-line for free. Paying 12.95/mo for UO just seems a bit out of line IMO.

Well, if they increase quality by hiring an IGM and part-time seers to provide seer led quests, I'm in. Since I don't think that will happen, I'll be closing down two accounts. I'll hang on to my main, however, just to make sure I am done with UO for good and all. I have been playing less and less since AoS came out and this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I'll use the extra cash to try out Star Wars Galaxies I suppose.

I suspect that after this fee increase their revenue will be the same or less then it currently is. They are raising prices by %30, but i suspect this will drive %30 of accounts to be cancelled (I am going to finnaly cancel my last Catskills account and my LA account, and maybe the other 2 as well). So they will generate the same revenue yet have a smaller player/account base; this should lead to appearence of better game performance without them actually doing anything. Less players means the wait times for Gms and Customer service will be better. Less players/accounts means more open housing, less spawn camps. Perhaps this is a good step to thin out the number of players/accounts.

At that price and logging on only to get smithing BOD's I am not sure it will be worth keeping my account up to date.
Lots and Lots of new games coming out soon.
I guess I will have to think on this one.

That is just about going to do it for me as far as UO is concerened. There' s not much point in paying extra for something I rarely play. Maybe it will help thin things out to improve the server performance, maybe not.
